3rd Time's the Charm

This past saturday I went to the Lizard Lounge in Dallas to see el Hefe, the one and only, Laidback Luke for the third time. Every time I see him he throws down so much harder and his set is so much better. I heard a bunch of songs at the lounge that he didn't play at Nocturnal and I was very impressed. I'm gonna post four songs which I really enjoyed this weekend; however some of the best tracks were some he mixed live which are near impossible to find. The first one I'm posting is a brand new remix Luke just did which hasn't been released, and since I already got in trouble for letting you listeners download Animal Rights without the rights I'm gonna make it private. However if you look up the track on youtube and use a converter, its another good way to add it to your library. The song is Indestructible by Robyn and Luke blew this song out of the water. The second one is a remix Luke did on ISquare's Hey Sexy Lady, which was really hard on saturday. The last two are a couple of classics mashed and remixed for your electro itch, Back Forth Spirit and Thunderstruck (Crookers Remix). I went up after he was done playing to get an autograph, intending to ask him when he, Steve Aoki, and Lil John were gonna release Turbulence, but I was unable to ask him, but when it does, you'll find it here first. Enjoy!

Flux Pavillion

So I know it has been quite a while since the last post on lunch, and I feel horrible for depriving all the listeners of their jams. That is why Flux is getting this post. If anyone is looking for some filthy dub songs, Flux gon give it to ya'. His real name is Joshua Steele and he is from the UK like so many other good DJ's and producers. Some of you who frequent Lunch may remember a remix I posted some days back called Gold Dust, which is definitely his biggest track right now and its just one of his remixes. But have no fear because this post is going to give this man the credit he deserves. His work contains a lot of heavy hitting synth mixed in with the WOMP we all know and love. All three of the tracks on here are awesome, I listened to quite a few of his tracks and these were my three favorites. Enjoy!

Gypsy & The Cat Remixed

Hey check out these remixes.
First of all here's a nice light-hearted jam.  Vocals drive this one, cool chorus.  And then a nice little synth riff carries it away.  A good one to listen to in the car.
Gypsy & The Cat - Time To Wander (MOPP Remix) by lunchjams.blogspot.com.
The next one is by Shazam, who makes these really 80's sounding funked beats on steroids.  Really upbeat remixes.  They usually have a pretty cool old school disco style bassline.  Nice drum sounds on this track, and a nice middle section where the vocals take the forefront over some arpeggiating chords.

Boemklatsch

It is as hard to remember how it is spelled as it is to pronounce. Apparently it's boem, klatsch or kick, snare. The group consists of four friends from Utrecht, Netherlands, I know one of them is an MC but the others do a mix of DJing and VJing. There isn't much other information on them that i can find in English but they really have a way of making some really good uplifting electro tracks. While they have been struggling to hit it big in the scene they have produced a bunch of their own stuff as well as remix a lot of good tracks. My favorite of these three has to be One More Day, it opens up with a really catchy riff and goes into some positive lyrics but don't be fooled, this song hits REAL hard with a very grungy synth that really gets the place jumpin'. The next track Bonafied is a remix of their song, with a little womp and wobble included, just make sure you get to the drop. The song then chills out for a bit but when it drops the second time you are gonna be glad you practiced some patience. The last track I'm posting is a remix they did of Baskerville's One Dollar Dave kinda goes all over the place but in my opinion this has a more rave-y feel to it, very upbeat but still a decent track.

We got the UT burnt orange in the mini player color because of the shooting on their campus today, our hearts at Lunch are with you all.

Nero remixes

Yoooo,

Nero is a dubstep artist from the UK, and his tracks are some of the finest dubstep I have heard.  Here is a sampling of his remixes for a variety of artists: the first too are pretty heavy, but stay easy to listen to, and the last track is more mellow.  Make sure to check out his other tracks on his myspace.

Peanut Butter and Jams!

Ok so this post is a little all over the place, two of the songs were showed to me by some qualified listeners, one is an awesome dub remix I found and there are two bonus tracks. The first track is one of the hardest hitting tracks I've heard in a while definitely something I've been playing multiple times a day and it still has yet to get old. My boy Miles from the (813) YOU KNOW, showed me this track and he deserves all the credit for it being on here. The second song came in second place for Imogen Heap's remixes over at noisecandy.blogspot.com and while I honor NC's opinion about the winner I have to say this Afrojack remix is one of the most well done remixes I've heard for some time. When the beat drops for the third time everything comes together so well.....this is a club banger without a doubt. The third track is something I found just browsing around. Its a Mimosa remix of Collie Buddz's Come Around, and even for people who don't like dubstep, this is quite a track.

Now as for the bonus....if any of the lunch listeners are from Dallas and you haven't heard about this kid you better jump on the train now cuz I have a feeling its departing soon and you don't wanna miss this ride. His name's Mury and he's been producing some really awesome shit, no joke. You can check out all his tracks at mury.bandcamp.com . Unfortunately I won't be uploading these for download but you can always listen to them here or on his site. Here are Kill the Batman and Filthbath. Props to you Mury!

Pacific!

Pacific! is an electro group from Sweden.  Their new album just dropped a few days ago, and here's a track from the album thats pretty jammin.  This song starts off a bit slow and mysterious, but really gets rolling around 1:04.  Turns into an epic futuristic sounding outer space jam.
Pacific! - Venus Rising by lunchjams.blogspot.com
Also take a listen to this track off their last album.  This one has a really different feel, much more poppy, almost like Beach Boys meets 80's influenced electro.  Cool electronic percussion sounds and nice vocal harmonies.  Both tracks also feature some nice guitar work near the end which is refreshing after all those electronoises.

Some more Netsky + Gentlemen Thieves

Yo, heres two of my favorite Netsky tracks.  If you haven't checked out the Netsky jam my esteemed colleague posted earlier, then give that a listen immediately.
First up is a nice remix of Black & Blue by Miike Snow.  Nice keys start this one out, the vocals stay in the forefront, and when it drops nice wobbles keep the jam flowin.
Miike Snow - Black & Blue (Netsky Remix) by lunchjams.blogspot.com

Next is another solid Netsky track, a little more mysterious sounding than the first, however you have some great bass and cool little bloops and bleeps to look forward to when it drops.
Netsky - Lost In This World by lunchjams.blogspot.com

We end with this remix that the Gentlemen Thieves sent in a while ago... my bad for not posting it earlier.  Theres some nice work using key samples from the original song, (for example the very beginning).  Strong synths then pair with the vocals, creating some cool breaks and build ups.  Like the 80's futuristic feel, fits nice with the 'Intergalactic' theme.  Keep it up guys, looking forward to some more mixes.

....Nocturnal

This past weekend can only be examined on an epic scale, as Nocturnal took over Rockdale, TX. I don't think this town has seen 25,000 people come through their town. This middle of nowhere town was crawling with people drunk off their ass and on so many drugs, that the money spent could have covered their only subway's expenses for years. But the best part of the weekend was by far the music. It was an EDC Los Angeles lineup on almost an 1/8 of the scale. 4 stages, and two 10 hour nights of mayhem left its partakers weary and drowsy on Memorial Day. Of the acts i saw I'd have to say that my top 3 had to have been Bassnectar, Wolfgang Gartner and Laidback Luke in no particular order. Now thats not to say that acts like Joachim Gerraud, Armin, A&B, Fedde, Tritonal, Rusko etc. didn't throw down. I can honestly say that every performance i went to, blew me away. This was an awesome event and I can't wait till '11. I've attached just some of the bangers we heard, and these are sure to keep you jammin'.

Wolf-Mau5

WOW... this new collaboration between Deadmau5 and Wolfgang Gartner is quite a crowd pleaser. This track really does meld their two styles together well, very impressed on this one. Wolfgang is playing this year at Nocturnal Festival in Rockdale (?).... near Austin. As for the Mau5 news, Joel just announced his biggest UK tour to date which includes the highly talented Calvin Harris, someone I still have yet to see. So props to Benjamin for the epic discovery. As for the bonus track I have attached, it is an absolute gem I have been bumpin to lately and this one is a must.

Lunch in the KLAASroom

Klaas Gerling is a German producer and DJ who has had some really successful tracks all throughout Europe. He recently played at the Lizard Lounge in Dallas and I'm sure he blew up the house. These electro house tracks have a real grungy heavy synth throughout all of them and some are sure to get you head bumpin.

New Miami Horror + (kind of) New Noisia

Both Miami Horror and Noisia have new albums this year, and here's a tasty jam from each.

Miami Horror  is a mainly electro-pop group from Australia, they put out a lot of disco flavored tracks heavy on the synths.  This track is a standout from the new album, its got a real nice funky bassline that keeps the groove goin and is really key in creating build ups of energy throughout the song.  Nice vocals here too.
Miami Horror - I Look To You ft. Kimbra by lunchjams.blogspot.com
If you haven't heard any Miami Horror before, check out the song 'Sometimes.'

Noisia is a Dutch group that specializes in pretty intense drum n bass and electro house.  Although intense, this track doesnt get too crazy, and keeps a solid groove going with some cool riffs and effects that work well with the drum beat.  In my opinion it's the best produced track on the album.  Enjoy.

Sunny Dayz

Since it has been hot as wiener in Dallas I figured it was appropriate for some sunny songs. While they all differ from each other, that is not to say they are not all fresh tracks. Whether you chase, set, or love the sun these three tracks should brighten your day. Enjoy your meal!

With warm regards,

DVAS and College

DVAS is a group with that French (Canadian) touch putting out house/electro jams with a strong 80's disco feel. They have a bunch of free mixes on that myspace so check it out.
Here's their new single 'Society.' A nice electro pop song drawing its power from that funky house/electro sound. Real cool breakdown.
DVAS - Society (Album Version) by lunchjams.blogspot.com
Next up we have an earlier offering - nice bass drops 46 seconds in. If you like this jam, check out their other track 'Inner Sanctum.'
     DVAS - Forever by lunchjams.blogspot.com
Here is a remix by DVAS of the group College. They also have a free mix up on their myspace. College is one of the creators of the Valerie Collective, a blog/label putting out all sorts of 80's tinged French electro jams. Anyways, this remix has nice bass like 'Forever,' and a great breakdown section starting at about 2:42. The layers build up quite nicely, awesome sounding bends on the synths here.
College - The Energy Story feat Minitel Rose (DVAS Remix) by lunchjams.blogspot.com
I leave you with a track by College with vocals of the Electric Youth song 'Sailing' put over top. A simple, mellow track.

Deadmau5 + Rap =

Enjoy these two top notch mash ups. There are tons of rap over Ghosts n Stuff mash ups out there but they don't really come close to this one.

This next track uses the Deadmau5 remix of Harder, better, faster, stronger by Daft Punk.

Adam K & Soha

This team puts out quality progressive house tracks.
First up we have an uplifting jam that remixes a cover of the classic 80's Peter Schilling song Major Tom. Really stoked on this jam right now. Here's da radio edit:
Shiny Toy Guns - Major Tom (Adam K And Soha Radio Edit) by lunchjams.blogspot.com
Next up, a chilled out track, real nice bass on this one so listen on some nice speakers.
Reflekt - Need To Feel Loved (Adam K & Soha Vocal Mix) by lunchjams.blogspot.com
Lastly, we have a real favorite of mine, great sounds at the end of the build up around 4:30.

Obsessions

Wanted to post this first track for a while, and just found a buddy for it
Obsessions (The Aspirins For My Children Remix) by LunchJams
love the how the vocals work to build up energy until its released with the cool riff in the middle section. This dude (Aspirins For My Children) has a lot of cool jams. Check them out, especially:
Pinapple
Hollow Out

Here is the same song remixed by Ocelot (posted about them a little bit ago)
Obsessions (Ocelot Remix) by LunchJams
On another note, I just watched the badass movie The Harder They Come starring Jimmy Cliff, which features some great tunes.
Here are my favorites that you should definitely give a listen on the youtube or whatever:
Toots and the Maytals - Sweet and Dandy
Toots and the Maytals - Pressure Drop
Johnny Too Bad - The Slickers
and of course
The Harder They Come - Jimmy Cliff

Head Bangers

While it is unfortunate that my summer break is coming to a close, I cannot wait to get back to D-town (Dallas) and start off an awesome semester full of some badass shows. Of course Nocturnal is the obviously awesome music festival on labor day weekend, but also The Bloody Beetroots, Chromeo, Ratatat, Bassnectar.....just to name a few. So I thought I'd post a few more jams to get your head bangin' and your feet stompin. The first is a dirty Sub Focus remix of Rusko's new single, Hold on. I'm not usually a huge D&B fan but the rework on this track literally makes me melt. The second bumpin jam for your delicious lunch break is Steve Angello of SHM's new single KNAS. It's just one of those tracks that you know when you hear it, that you would go nuts if you heard it live....yeah that dank. Thirdly is a house track called Brap from Bart B More, and this one hits you hard where it hurts. And lastly for today kids is a Laidback Luke remix of Calvin Haris' You Used To Hold Me, and while there isn't much that I can say for this one that hasn't been said for the others, its simply a must have.

Pump It UP with Felguk

Felguk hails from the land of Brazil and throws down really sweet jams with a unique high energy electro house style. The thing about these tracks is they are just always holding down a super funky groove while at the same time throwing in little break downs and switch ups, creating numerous awesome buildups throughout. Take the first track for example- around 1:55, great breakdown section starting at 'bout 2:50, then when that bass comes back in at 4:30 its just plain bumpin.
Felguk - Buzz Me (Original Mix) by LunchJams
Next track- I really love the full bodied lead synth that switched from its original riff rhythm to the simpler straight rhythm during the build up in the second half.
Felguk - Side by Side (Original Mix) by LunchJams
Next up we got a fresh take on a real classic-----
Mason - Exceeder (Felguk Remix) by LunchJams

Just a Couple Jams

Well it has been a while since my last post but that's not to say I haven't been updating my library. This first one i heard on XM Radio, which is the coolest thing since sliced bread. It's the Miles Dyson remix of Smart and Clever by Bruno Barundi and Victor Ruiz and has a real heavy Deadmau5-esque sound... definitely worth it. The second track is the new Underworld single Scribble remixed by Netsky. Its a catchy head bumpin track with a bit of a drum n bass beat, be sure to check it out.

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs

Got a real delicacy for you this fine afternoon. These dinosaurs are from the UK. Their name is kind of awesome but also seems to try a little too hard. Probably because they're British (haha). Read all about it here. Listening to these jams really gives me new hope for electro. Make sure to have a totally enormous lunch to go along with these totally enormous jams.
Watch this nice hip little promo vid to get a taste of their vibes:

Try out this fresh new track (came out last month I believe), really chill, strong vibes of floating and underwater bubbles. Bleeps and bloops (also some cool percussion sound that I really like) are top notch with a rich sounding bass keeping the harmony flowin.
Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs - Garden by LunchJams
Here is a nice remix that I like because it has these elements of a great vocal remix banger:
-interesting, well mixed drums that dont drive you nuts
-nice vocal work with well placed remixing/chopping up + effects adding
-ambient/atmospheric washed out sounding synth/keys pads
-that tough bass lead that keeps rocking and dont get old too fast
Killa Kela - Everyday (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs Remix) by LunchJams
These are some older tracks from these very old dinosaurs that you may check out if you are in an electro mood:
-Let me tell you
-Sickly child
